AppLovin Ads - Social Advertising - Library out now!

Posted by with 21 comments

Hello and welcome to a brand new week?

How was March? My revenues were slightly lower in March compared to February (not by much though), mainly due to a drop in eCPM from Airpush. Have anyone of you had similar drop from Airpush?

Innovation

The Mobile Advertising industry is truly becoming innovative, and as has been said before, the number of ad agencies that are popping up is really astounding. I often get emails from various ad agencies asking me to integrate their ads into my apps. While these invitations are nice, I just do not have the need as of now to add in more ad networks. I am quite maxed out.

I took up sellAring previously because at that moment I had the capability to add in the ring back tone ads into my apps. Plus it was a whole new innovation. It did not displace any of my other ad networks. Many other networks I have had to keep them aside for future reference if I were to implement their ad networks.

A new approach

Now, I was approached by an ad company last week, and upon looking at what they had to offer, I immediately signed up for their library, and got the wrapper out. Basic4Android folks can get it here.

AppLovin is a new mobile advertising company on the scene. They currently offer banner and interstitial ads.

What made me sign up with them is their take on mobile social advertising. This is really new, and I believe they might have just pioneered this.

Elaboration

What social advertising does is it adds a social / contacts effect to the ads. Now instead of getting ads such as "Download this awesome game", you get and ad like "Play Bill to a game of Bowling" (example if you have a contact called Bill).

As a developer, I can understand why this would work. When you see an ad that has your contact's details (picture and name) shown, you're more likely to click the ad. I am getting between 9 to 10% CTR for the past few days for my banner ads.

As for advertisers, they too will benefit from this model. People clicking more of their ads, and the payout is only when someone downloads the app. (CPA based ads from my observation).

The future

I am also told that they aim to better the eCPM of other banner ad networks. So far that has been true.

AppLovin is still new and I am hoping this one grows much better. I have updated a number of my apps to use their ads. Lets see where this one goes. It is quite certainly gonna start a new trend for social mobile advertising, just like sellAring has done for caller ring back tones.

Give it a go, and do feedback!

Cheers!

  10. Hi susu,

So far it is the best banner ad type that I have come across. I'll get some stats up either end of this week or early next week.

Do note that the ads are CPA based, and not CPC based.

    Cheers!

  11. Hi Bill,

Yes, I know it's CPA based and I have a little bit worry because it seems AppLovin only have several apps/games to promote. What if my users installed these apps alreay or they don't like games? I need to think more to consider AppLovin or InMobi :D

  12. Oh, I forget. Do you know the minimum payout and payout period of AppLovin?

  13. Hi susu,

Try to implement some logic where you show AppLovin maybe once for 30 secs, then load inmobi?

Payout i think is at $20 minimum, forgot where i saw this. Net15 term based on some feedback from AppLovin. Will need to reconfirm these.

    Cheers!

  16. Hi Rafael,

Thanks for dropping by and the confirmations. I guess as susu mentioned, would be good to have a FAQ page for publishers.
